Hello ,I’m Gemma!

I’m a professional photographer based in Brisbane, Australia.

About ten years ago, I worked as a travel agent, which for me was like throwing gasoline on a fire. Learning all the ways to travel the world without breaking the bank and discovering untouched locations, amazing travel deals, and off the beaten track experiences made it impossible to say no to new experiences.

I set myself a goal of visiting 30 countries by the age of 30. On my 30th birthday I sat on top of a mountain in Banff Canada looking out over the mountains feeling super grateful to now be in my 37th country. With most of the trips happening in the last eight years. This was no small feat, especially since I’ve never been one for multi country tours like Contiki trips, where you see 20 countries in two weeks.

That approach never appealed to me. I love really getting to know a place and immersing myself in the culture. My first international trip alone, at 21, was hiking Mount Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia and staying with local families an experience that shaped my love for travel.

Traveling from Australia can be challenging because of how far we are from most destinations. That’s why I created this blog, to share my learnings, tips, tricks, and snapshots of my life.

I hope you enjoy following along on my adventures!
